Pablo Picasso: Boy Leading Horse

I think this is the painting that Kinbote mentions on page 83.

  1. So you can put up pornographic materails but I cannot? ;)

    To your statement earlier in this semester about why a pedophile is better than a murderer or a vampire;

    A murderer takes life on this planet and it is over. A vampire is an attack more on our imagination than anything else. Yes, they may be frightening but it is our imagination that comes out with a vampire or a werewolf, while not touching so much on our daily lives.

    But why pedophile? A pedophile steals innocence. Not that a murdered cannot possibly steal innocence as well, but a pedophile takes away something that we've all (hopefully) had, a childhood. A pedophile robs us of everything we think a child needs, and certainly a child does need these things. Murderer's take away something that we can only imagine. whereas a murderer steals the fruits of labor, the pedophile sews salt into the land. Vampires can only exist in our minds. Pedophiles are very real, and very prevalent. You've been Black Like Me, you've twisted with Oliver, and now you've seen Lolita's as Humbert Humbert has. Something always prevalent in Nabokov's writing is the death of innocence. Nabokov takes the sickest, most dispecable character in our century, and shows him as a human. If you, like me, believe that Nabokov is always trying to make you reflect on yourself, then Humbert Humbert's sins are our sins own doppleganger. Nabokov wants you to see not Humbert Humbert's meeting with reality, but your own. Explain how to do this better, or equally with a murderer, or a vampire.
